Cedar Cabins Launches Community Scholarship Fund (CSF) – On February 1st 2008 the Cedar Cabins Community Scholarship Fund was launched. For every night spent in one of our cabins or on our camp grounds, guests now have the opportunity to make a gift of at least $1.00 U.S. to the community fund. Guests are free to make larger contributions if they so desire. Also, for all adult visitors paying full fare to use our daytime facilities, Cedar Cabins will contribute $1.00 U.S. to the CSF. Initially, proceeds from the CSF will be used to finance High School scholarships and to assist local elementary schools in natural resource projects, and in the development of environmental leadership for Belizean youngsters through summer camps. Cedar Cabins to Open New Conference Facilities – Monday, March 17th has been set as the date for the opening of the ‘Guanacaste Room’ at Cedar Cabins Lodge. This new meeting room area will consist of 1,170 square feet and can comfortably accommodate 35 persons in a spacious and professional ‘classroom type’ set up, or up to 50 people in a ‘Press Conference Type’ set up. The ‘Coffee Break and Snack’ area is adjacent to the meeting room and consists of 500 square feet of space. The facility is tucked away between the vegetation on site and provides a luxurious, quiet, and productive working environment. Cedar Cabins now Member of BAPPA – Cedar Cabins Botanical Reserve & Bird Sanctuary is now a Member of the Belize Association of Private Protected Areas (BAPPA). The need for developing legislation for the recognition and protection of Private Protected Areas as sources of environmental goods and services, as well as sources of employment and community benefits, led to the creation of BAPPA. Cedar Cabins is proud to be a member, as is evidenced by the role of Cedar Cabins management on the Board of Directors of BAPPA in the capacity of Secretary/Treasurer.
