As part of Cedar Cabins Corporate Social Policy, as of February 2008, we have initiated a Cedar Cabins Community Scholarship Fund (CSF) to assist needy and worthy youths of Cedar Cabins buffer communities. For every night spent in one of our cabins or on our camp grounds, guests will have the opportunity to make a gift of at least $1.00 U.S. to the community fund. Guests are free to make larger contributions if they so desire. Also, for all adult visitors paying full fare to use our daytime facilities, Cedar Cabins will contribute $1.00 U.S. to the CSF.
Initially, proceeds from the CSF will be used to finance High School scholarships and to assist local elementary schools in natural resource projects, and in the development of environmental leadership for Belizean youngsters through summer camps. Depending on the size of the fund, scholarships may be expanded to include students attending Associate Degree Programs and University.
Scholarship grantees will be selected by a CSF Selection Committee consisting of four (4) community leaders, two (2) NGO representatives and Cedar Cabins management. A photograph and brief descriptions of successful students will be placed online for public viewing. The outcomes of environmental summer camps and environmental projects funded by the CSF will also be placed online for public information, as well as an Annual CSF Financial Report. |
